Who is Nicholas Tuttle?
|
Nicholas Tuttle’s role as owner and operator of his studio in Mt. Adams started four years ago, but his career in music began much earlier. As a high school student, Nick spent much of his time in chorus and independent guitar studies. He took lessons from various local teaches, including Rod Stucky, a member of the preparatory department at CCM, and Bob Mercer, the head of the guitar programs at NKU, Xavier University, and Mt. St. Joe. Nicholas' training covered various genres of music, ranging from classical and jazz to flamenco and rock.
As a college student, Nicholas studied under Claire Callahan at CCM, concentrating on voice, piano, and an intense classical guitar program. Nicholas, meanwhile, was teaching at a studio in Bethel, a post he had also held through much of high school. In addition to this position, he also began teaching at a studio in Anderson Township. Within a year, he had moved to Mt. Adams and opened the Nicholas Tuttle Guitar Studio. Due to an increasing clientele base, he limited his availability solely to his own studio.
In addition to his career as a well-accomplished instructor, Nicholas also perpetuates a successful livelihood as a musician. Playing over the years both as a member of bands, and as a solo performer, he has developed his own sound of an organic electronica. With the use of an Oberheim Echoplex looping device, Nick is able to create layer upon layer of guitar, vocals, percussive beats, and rhythmic effects to construct spontaneous and complex soundscapes. Utilizing his equipment, Nicholas has transformed the figurative one man band to a literal one. His rich, unusual sound can be found enticing audiences in local Cincinnati bars and restaurants several nights a week, bearing witness to a musician whose talents and priorities encompass both worlds of instruction and performance.
See the shows section of this site for more information on Nicholas' performances, style, and to listen to samples of his work.
